An emerald cut moissanite enclosed on all four sides by a continuous wall of metal, with the corners of the bezel cut to follow the bevelled corners of the stone. There are no prongs anywhere. The band is a smooth 2 millimetre round shank that flows straight into the bezel, so the whole ring reads as one continuous piece of metal with a window cut into it.

Why this ring works

A bezel does three things a prong setting cannot. It protects the girdle of the stone completely, which matters most on a step cut where the outline is the design. It gives a clean geometric silhouette that suits the architectural character of an emerald cut. Setting and band

A full bezel wraps the emerald cut on all four sides with a bright cut inner edge that reflects light back into the stone. The corners of the bezel are mitred to match the corners of the step cut. The shank is a plain round band of 2 millimetres, flowing without a join into the underside of the setting. The profile is low, so the ring sits close to the finger and stacks flush with a wedding band. Metal is solid throughout with a polished interior.

Metal options

Choose from recycled 925 sterling silver, or solid 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose and white. Yellow gold, as photographed, gives the strongest contrast between the warm frame and the colorless stone. White gold and sterling silver make the bezel almost disappear into the stone for a cooler, more modern effect. Rose gold sits between the two. White gold is rhodium finished.

Care

A bezel is the easiest setting to keep clean because there are no prongs for grime to hide behind, but soap film does collect between the metal and the stone. Clean with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush, working around the inside edge of the bezel. Rinse and dry with a lint free cloth.

Questions people ask

Does a bezel make a stone look smaller? No. It covers the very edge of the girdle but adds a frame of metal around it, and most people read the outer edge of the bezel as the outline of the stone, so the ring looks slightly larger overall.

Is a bezel setting more secure than prongs? Yes, significantly. There is no single point of failure, nothing to bend, and nothing to catch on fabric. It is the standard recommendation for nurses, teachers, gardeners and anyone in a hands on job.

Does less light reach the stone in a bezel? Slightly less than an open basket, which is why the inner edge here is bright cut and the back is left open. In practice an emerald cut relies on light entering the table rather than the pavilion, so it loses very little.

Which metal should I choose? For maximum whiteness choose white gold or sterling silver. For a warm frame and strong contrast choose yellow or rose gold. For daily wear over decades, 14K balances colour and durability best.
