This is a nature inspired engagement ring built around an emerald cut lab grown diamond, with clusters of marquise diamonds and small round diamonds set along a sculpted vine band that curves away from the centre stone like a growing branch.

The centre diamond is held in four slim claws that reach across the corners of the step cut, leaving the long open table completely clear. Because an emerald cut shows its beauty through wide parallel facets rather than sparkle, we keep the setting quiet at the top so the staircase inside the stone stays the first thing you notice.

The shoulders are where this ring becomes different. Instead of a straight row of accents, our setters build small leaf clusters. Marquise cut diamonds are angled outward like leaves, a round diamond sits in the crook of each turn like a bud, and the gold between them is hand shaped into stems and tiny curled tips. Each cluster is placed slightly differently on the left and the right, which is how leaves actually grow, and the result is a shoulder that looks organic instead of repeated.

The vine continues into a slim polished band that tapers under the finger. That taper matters for comfort with a large centre stone, and it also means the ring will sit flat against most curved or contoured wedding bands.

Yellow gold suits this design particularly well because the warm metal reads as stem and branch, but the same ring in white gold or rose gold changes the mood completely.

Frequently asked questions

Is the centre stone a real diamond?
Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical properties as a mined diamond. The only difference is where it was formed.

Does the ring come with a certificate?
Yes. An IGI certificate for the centre stone is included at no extra cost, and it lists the carat weight, colour, clarity, measurements and the fact that the stone is laboratory grown.

How is this different from your other marquise accent emerald cut rings?
Several of our rings use marquise side stones, but here the marquise diamonds are grouped into leaf clusters with round bud diamonds and hand shaped gold stems, and the clusters are deliberately asymmetric between the two shoulders. Our other marquise designs place the stones in a symmetrical, evenly spaced line on a plain band.

Which carat weight looks best in this setting?
All four weights are made for this design. A 2 carat emerald cut keeps the leaf clusters and the centre stone in balance. At 4 or 5 carat the centre stone becomes the clear focus and the vine reads as a delicate frame around it.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
The vine shoulders are raised, so a contoured or curved wedding band sits best. We can make a matching curved band that follows the vine line, and you are welcome to ask for it when you order.

Is an emerald cut a good choice for daily wear?
Yes. The corners of an emerald cut are cut at an angle rather than left as sharp points, which makes them less vulnerable than pointed shapes, and the four claws here sit over exactly those corners.

Which metal should I choose?
Yellow gold gives the strongest botanical feeling. White gold and 925 sterling silver make the leaves read as frost or silver foliage. Rose gold gives a warmer, softer version of the same design. All ten metals are made to the same standard.
