Side stone details

This ring has no side stones. The bezel rim and shank are plain polished metal, which is what allows the rectangular outline to read so cleanly.

Photographed in rose gold. Because a bezel puts a band of metal directly around the diamond, the metal colour has more effect here than in a prong setting. Rose and yellow gold draw a warm frame around the stone, while white gold nearly vanishes against it. Rose gold also needs no replating, unlike rhodium finished white gold. For everyday wear 14K is harder than 18K.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a bezel suit an emerald cut particularly?
Both are rectilinear. The straight rim follows the straight edges of the stone, so the outline stays crisp. On a round or oval the rim has to curve around the stone, which reads softer. If you like the architectural quality of an emerald cut, a bezel amplifies it.

Is a bezel more protective?
Yes. There are no prongs to bend or catch, and the vulnerable corners of the emerald cut are covered by the rim. It is the setting we recommend for anyone who works with their hands or wears gloves regularly.

Does the bezel hide part of the diamond?
It covers the outer edge, so the stone shows slightly smaller face up than the same carat in prongs. That is the honest trade for the protection and the clean line.

Does rose gold make the diamond look warm?
The metal reflects a little warmth into the stone, more so in a bezel than in prongs because there is more metal in contact. If you want the diamond reading as icy as possible, choose white gold.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut grade and carat weight.

How long does it take to make?
