An emerald cut lab grown diamond framed by a rectangular halo of pave diamonds, with hand raised milgrain running around both the inner and outer edges of the halo and a pave set band leading into it.

The halo follows the outline of the centre stone exactly, corner for corner, rather than rounding it off. That is what keeps the ring looking like an emerald cut design instead of a generic halo. Because the halo is set slightly proud of the stone, the whole head reads as one larger rectangle on the finger, which is why halos remain the most effective way to add visual size.

The milgrain is what makes it feel antique. Two fine lines of raised beads border the diamond row, softening the edge of the metal and giving the light something to catch even where there are no stones. Our setters raise these beads one at a time with a hand tool.

The centre stone is held by ball tipped claws at its four corners, and the shoulders carry a graduated row of pave that narrows as it runs toward the plain polished back of the band.

Frequently asked questions

Is the centre stone a real diamond?
Yes. A lab grown diamond is the same carbon crystal as a mined diamond, with the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same brilliance. Only the origin differs.

Is a certificate included?
Yes. An IGI certificate for the centre stone is included at no extra cost and states carat weight, colour, clarity, measurements and laboratory grown origin.

How is this different from your other halo emerald cut rings?
This halo is rectangular, follows the corners of the centre stone, and is bordered by milgrain on both edges. Our floating halo uses larger round diamonds in open bead prongs, and our sunburst design radiates the stones outward. This is the most traditional and the most antique in character.

Does the halo make the diamond look bigger?
Yes. Because the halo is set close around the stone and follows the same rectangular outline, the eye reads the whole head as a single larger diamond, typically adding the appearance of a half carat or more.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
The halo sits low, so a straight band meets it closely at the sides. A contoured band gives the closest fit and we can make one with matching milgrain.

Will the milgrain wear away?
It is raised from solid metal rather than applied on top, so it wears very slowly. After many years a jeweller can sharpen it again if needed.

Which carat weight suits this ring?
All four are made for it. At 2 carat the halo makes a real difference to the ring size on the hand. At 4 or 5 carat it becomes a fine decorative frame rather than a size booster.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush. Brush around the halo and under the setting where dust collects, then rinse and dry with a soft cloth.

How long does it take to make?
Each ring is made to order, so please allow our standard making time from the day your metal and size are confirmed. We will confirm the schedule when you order.
