An emerald cut lab grown diamond held in a broad gold bezel, with hand raised milgrain running along both edges of the bezel and along a band that divides into two fine rails.

This is antique construction rather than modern minimalism. The bezel is wide enough to read as a frame in its own right, and because milgrain borders it above and below, the metal catches light in a soft granular line instead of a hard polished edge. That is exactly how bezels were finished in the deco period, and it is the reason the design looks older than it is.

The band splits just before it reaches the setting into two slim rails, each edged in milgrain of its own. The gap between them keeps a heavy looking ring surprisingly light on the finger, and it lets light through on both sides of the stone.

Because the diamond sits inside a bezel rather than under claws, nothing rises above the metal. The ring is smooth to the touch, cannot catch, and the corners of the emerald cut are completely protected.

Is the centre stone a real diamond?
Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same brilliance as a mined diamond. Only its origin differs.

Is a certificate included?
Yes. An IGI certificate for the centre stone is included at no extra cost and lists carat weight, colour, clarity, measurements and laboratory grown origin.

How is this different from your other bezel set emerald cut rings?
This bezel is wider and finished with milgrain on both edges, and it sits on a band that splits into two milgrain edged rails. Our other bezel rings are deliberately modern and plain, with polished edges and a solid shank. This one is the antique version of the same idea.

Are there any accent diamonds?
No. Everything besides the centre stone is metalwork. That keeps the ring quiet and puts the whole budget into the diamond you actually see.

Is this ring practical for everyday wear?
Very. A bezel is the most protective setting there is, nothing protrudes, and the split rails are joined at both ends so the band stays strong.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
Yes. The bezel sits low and the band is straight, so a plain wedding band meets this ring cleanly on both sides. A milgrain edged band pairs particularly well and we can make one.

Will the milgrain wear away?
It is raised from solid metal, so it wears slowly. If it softens after many years, a jeweller can sharpen it again.

Which carat weight suits this ring?
All four are made for it. The wide bezel adds visible size, so even a 2 carat emerald cut looks substantial, while 4 and 5 carat versions become genuinely bold.

How do I clean it?
Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, paying attention to the milgrain lines and the gap between the rails. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth.

How long does it take to make?
