An emerald cut lab grown diamond held in four claws over a hidden halo of pave diamonds, on a plain rounded band whose two ends cross beneath the head instead of meeting it straight on.

Seen from directly above, this is a plain solitaire. The band carries no stones, the claws are slim, and nothing interrupts the long parallel step facets of the centre stone. Everything happens underneath. A narrow collar of pave set round diamonds runs all the way around the girdle of the emerald cut, tucked below the table where it cannot be seen from the top but throws light back into the pavilion and shows as a fine bright line from every other angle. That is the hidden halo, and on a step cut it does something a visible halo cannot: it adds brightness without adding a second outline that would blur the clean rectangle of the stone.

The gallery is the second detail worth knowing. Rather than rising straight into the basket, each side of the shank splits and crosses over the other before turning up into the claws. The crossover braces the head against the shank at two points instead of one, which is what allows the setting to sit as low as it does. The result is a ring that clears the finger by very little, does not catch on knitwear, and carries a five carat stone on a band that still looks slender.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate

What is a hidden halo
A ring of small pave diamonds set around the girdle of the centre stone but below its table, so it is invisible when you look straight down at the ring and visible from every other direction.

Why put a hidden halo on an emerald cut rather than a visible one
A visible halo puts a scalloped outline around the stone, which softens the sharp rectangle that people choose an emerald cut for. A hidden halo adds the brightness without touching the outline.

What does the crossover gallery do
It braces the head to the shank at two crossing points rather than one straight junction, which is what lets the stone sit low and the band stay slim.

Is a low profile setting more comfortable
Yes. It clears the finger by very little, so it slides under gloves, does not rock on the finger and does not catch on fabric.

Do emerald cuts show inclusions more than other shapes
Yes. The open step facets hide far less than a brilliant does, which is why we use VVS2 clarity for the centre stone.

Can this ring be resized
