An emerald cut lab grown diamond sits in four ball tipped claws above a band built from braided strands of pave set diamonds and polished gold, with pave leaf forms curling in against the stone on both sides.

This is one of the most heavily worked bands we make. Rather than a single shank, the shoulders are formed from several separate strands that cross over one another and travel around the finger, some finished in plain polished metal and some fully set with round brilliant accents. Between them the setter has added leaf shapes, each pave set individually so the diamonds follow the curve of the leaf rather than sitting in a straight row. The result reads as a growing vine that happens to be studded with light, which is why it suits an emerald cut so well.

An emerald cut is a step cut. Its long parallel facets give broad flashes of light rather than the rapid sparkle of a brilliant, and that calm surface needs something around it with movement. The braided vine supplies that movement without competing, because every accent stone here is small and the eye still travels straight to the table of the center diamond first.

The claws are ball tipped rather than flat, a deliberate choice on a botanical design. A rounded claw tip echoes a bud and keeps the corners of the emerald cut protected, which matters because the corners of a step cut stone are the part most likely to catch on a sleeve.

Band details

Multiple strands braid over one another from the center stone down through the shoulders and taper to a comfortable rounded shank at the base of the finger, so the ring is wide and sculptural at the top and easy to wear underneath. The inside of the shank is polished smooth and lightly domed.

Metal options

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Every metal is fully hallmarked. White gold is finished with rhodium for a bright cool white. Yellow gold suits this design particularly well because the plain polished strands read clearly against the pave.

Frequently asked questions

Is the center stone a real diamond
Yes. A lab grown diamond is real diamond. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond. The only difference is where it was grown.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

How many diamonds are in the band
The count depends on your finger size and the carat you choose, because a larger center stone needs longer shoulders. A typical size 6 ring in this design carries well over one hundred accent diamonds across the braided strands and leaves.

Will the pave stones fall out
Each accent sits in its own bead of metal raised from the surface by hand. That is a mechanical hold, not glue. Have the ring checked once a year like any pave piece and it will stay secure.

Can this ring be resized later
The plain section at the base of the shank can be sized within one or two sizes. The braided pave section cannot be cut, so tell us your size as accurately as you can. First resizing is free.

How is this different from your other vine rings
Our sculpted metal leaf vine ring has no accent diamonds at all and relies purely on carved metal. Our twisted vine pave ring uses two strands and a hidden halo. This design uses several braided strands together with pave set leaf forms, so it is the widest and the most heavily set of the three.

Does a wedding band sit flush against it
Not flush, because the shoulders are raised and sculptural. Most customers wear a curved or contoured band with this ring, or wear it alone. We can make a matching contoured band on request.

Which metal should I choose
If you want the braid to read clearly, choose yellow or rose gold, because the polished strands separate visually from the diamonds. If you want the whole shoulder to look like one continuous field of light, choose white gold.

How long does it take to make
