An elongated pear cut lab grown diamond held in a half bezel, where a band of metal wraps the two long sides of the stone and leaves the point and the rounded end open. It is the setting to choose if you want a bezel's protection without a bezel's heaviness, because the open ends let light through the stone from top and bottom while the metal rails guard the girdle. The teardrop is cut long rather than wide, which stretches the finger, and the shank is left completely plain so nothing competes with it. Every diamond is a laboratory grown diamond, identical in carbon structure, hardness and brilliance to a mined diamond, graded E colour and VVS2 clarity. What is a half bezel setting

A half bezel, sometimes called a semi bezel, holds the stone with two rails of metal along opposite sides rather than encircling it completely. You get most of the protection of a full bezel, the girdle is covered and nothing snags, while keeping the ends of the stone open so light passes through and the outline stays visible. On a pear it is particularly useful because the rails can be run along the two long sides and leave the delicate point covered by a small tip of metal.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond

Yes. A lab grown diamond is real diamond. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index and the same fire and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled laboratory over a few weeks instead of underground over billions of years. No jeweller can tell the difference by eye, only specialist equipment reading growth patterns can separate the two.

Is a bezel set ring better for daily wear

Generally yes. There are no raised claws to catch on clothing, hair or gloves, and the stone sits lower on the finger, so a bezel is the setting we recommend to anyone who works with their hands or is hard on jewellery. The trade off is slightly less light entering from the sides, which we minimise by keeping the rails thin at the top edge.

What does elongated mean on a pear cut

It refers to the length to width ratio. A standard pear is around 1.50 to 1.60, an elongated pear runs 1.70 or higher, so the stone is narrower and longer for the same carat weight. Elongated shapes cover more of the finger and look larger face up, which is why they are increasingly requested.

Does this ring come with a certificate

Yes. Every ring ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone. IGI is the International Gemological Institute, one of the largest independent diamond grading laboratories in the world. The certificate confirms the carat weight, the E colour grade, the VVS2 clarity grade and the laboratory grown origin. There is no extra charge for the certificate.

Can this ring be resized

Yes, easily. The shank is plain metal with no stones, so it resizes across a wide range without affecting the setting. This is one of the simplest designs in our catalogue to adjust later.

How long will my order take and can I return it

Every piece is made to order, so nothing is pulled off a shelf. Production takes about 10 to 12 working days and shipping is 3 to 5 working days after that with tracked international courier. We accept returns and exchanges within 30 days of delivery on unworn pieces in original condition.
