East West Pear Cut Lab Grown Diamond Ring in a Sculpted Wave Band

A pear cut lab grown diamond laid east west across the finger, nested into a band that rises and falls in one broad sculpted wave. The shank is not a circle with a setting on top of it. It swells and lifts on one side, dips through the middle where the stone lies, and rises again on the other, so the metal itself forms the seat. A V tip caps the point of the pear and a single claw holds the round end, and nothing else interrupts the stone. A pear is asymmetric, one pointed end and one full curved end, so laying it sideways in a wave produces a deliberately off balance line across the finger, quite unlike the mirror symmetry you get from setting a marquise the same way. Band details

A solid band that curves through a single broad wave, wide and flat across the top where it cradles the diamond and tapering to a slim rounded profile at the back of the finger. No stones are set into it. The design is carried entirely by the shape of the metal.

Metal options

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. This ring is mostly polished metal, so colour defines it more than on any stone set design. Yellow and rose gold make the wave read as a bold sculpted form. White gold and sterling silver let the metal recede so the pear appears to float sideways across the finger.

Frequently asked questions

What does east west setting mean?
The long axis of the stone runs across the finger instead of along it. On a pear this presents the full profile of the shape sideways and gives a distinctly modern look compared with the traditional point up orientation.

How is this different from your east west marquise wave ring?
The band construction is the same idea, but a marquise is symmetrical with a point at each end, so it sits balanced in the wave. A pear has one point and one round end, so this ring reads as a deliberately asymmetric line.

Is the point of the pear protected?
Yes. It sits under a V tip that wraps over it rather than a simple round claw, which is the safest way to hold a pear.

Does this ring sit flat against a wedding band?
Not flush, because of the wave. Most customers wear it on its own or with a curved contour band, which we can make to match.

Which end of the pear points where?
As photographed the point sits to one side and the round end to the other. We can orient it either way round for you at no cost, so tell us your preference in the order notes.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.
