An emerald cut lab grown diamond held in a full bezel, a continuous wall of metal that follows the octagonal outline of the stone all the way around, on a plain rounded band with an open split gallery.

A bezel is the oldest way to set a stone and still the most secure. Instead of four claws gripping the corners, a wall of metal is raised around the whole girdle and burnished down over the edge, so there is nothing standing proud of the stone to catch, bend or snap. On an emerald cut it also does something no other setting does. Because the rim traces the eight straight sides of the stone exactly, it draws a crisp geometric frame around the outline, and the stone reads as a single hard edged block rather than as a gem sitting in a mount. It suits the cut better than it suits almost any other shape.

The practical case is just as strong. Nothing snags on gloves, hair or knitwear, the corners of the emerald cut, which are the only places it is vulnerable, are completely covered, and the rim protects the girdle from knocks. Under the head the shank splits into two arms that arch away from each other before rejoining, which lifts the setting enough that a wedding band sits flush and lets light in from beneath.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond
Yes. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale and the same optical behaviour as a mined diamond, and it is graded on the same scales by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included at no extra charge.

What is a bezel setting
A continuous wall of metal raised around the whole girdle of the stone and burnished down over its edge, rather than individual claws gripping it at points.

Is a bezel more secure than claws
Yes. There is nothing standing proud to be bent or snapped, the girdle is protected from knocks all the way around, and the corners of an emerald cut, which are its weakest points, are fully covered.

Does a bezel make the stone look smaller
The rim adds a millimetre or so of metal around the outline, so the stone shows slightly less of itself than in claws, but the ring as a whole reads larger because the frame counts as part of the shape.

Is a bezel good for an active job

Do emerald cuts show inclusions more than other shapes
Yes. The open step facets hide far less than a brilliant does, which is why we use VVS2 clarity for the centre stone.

Can this ring be resized
Yes, easily. The band is plain and unset, and the bezel is untouched by sizing work.

How is this different from your other bezel rings
Others use a half bezel, a bezel with milgrain edging, or an east west orientation. This one is a plain full rim, north to south, on a bare polished shank.
