Pear Moissanite East-West Eternity Band: A Buyerβs Guide
A ring of teardrops, each turned on its side and pointing to the next. Why it sparkles all the way round, and the one decision you cannot change later.
Written by the Mapple Gems workshop, Surat Β· Updated 13 October 2026
Short answer: This full eternity band sets pear moissanites on their sides, east-west, all the way round the finger, each pointing to the next and held edge to edge by slender shared prongs. It is made to order in 925 silver or solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold, in four stone-size options. A full eternity band cannot be resized, so the ring size must be exact.
Most eternity bands use round stones. This one uses pears, laid sideways so their points lead around the band in an unbroken, wavy line. However the hand moves, there is stone on top. It works as a wedding band, an anniversary band, or on its own. Our latest order was in sterling silver.
Full eternity: what it gives and what it costs
| Full eternity | Half or three-quarter eternity | |
|---|---|---|
| Sparkle | All the way round | On the visible top |
| Resizing | Not possible | Possible through the plain section |
| Comfort | Stones between fingers | Plain metal underneath |
| On the hand | Identical from above | Identical from above |
A full eternity band has stones where a jeweller would normally cut and adjust the metal, so it cannot be made larger or smaller later. Fingers also change with seasons, pregnancy and age. Get the size exactly right, and think honestly about whether your size is stable.
Shared prongs and pears
Shared prongs hold two neighbouring stones each, so the pears sit edge to edge with minimal metal. Pear points are the most exposed part of the stone, and in an east-west band every point faces the next stone, which shelters it. Moissanite is Mohs 9.25 with no cleavage planes. The underside of a full eternity band takes the most knocks β it meets door handles, bags and bars β so check those stones too.
From the workshop
The way to size an eternity band is not the way most people size rings. Measure at the time of day your fingers are largest β usually evening, and in warm weather β because a full eternity band that is too tight cannot be eased. Measure the inside diameter of a ring that already fits that finger comfortably, in millimetres, and do not convert between sizing systems twice. If you will wear it next to an engagement ring, measure with both on, because two rings together often need a slightly larger size. And remember the stones on this band are much harder than gold; store it apart from your other rings.
Before you order: a short checklist
- Measure your finger carefully, in the evening, as an inside diameter in millimetres.
- Consider whether your size is likely to change in the next few years.
- If stacking, size with your engagement ring on.
- Choose 14K gold for daily wear; silver for occasional wear.
- Store it in its own pouch.

Frequently asked questions
Can a full eternity band be resized?
No. Stones go all the way round, leaving no plain metal to cut and adjust. The size must be right when it is made.
What does east-west mean on an eternity band?
Each pear is set on its side, along the band, so the stones point around the finger in a continuous line.
Can I wear this with an engagement ring?
Yes. Size for both rings worn together, and expect the stones to wear a plain gold ring slightly where they touch.
Is a full eternity band comfortable?
Most people get used to it quickly. Stones sit between the fingers, so some prefer a half or three-quarter eternity, which looks the same from above.
When should I measure my finger for an eternity band?
When it is largest β usually in the evening and in warm weather β because a tight eternity band cannot be loosened.
