A round brilliant is the least colour sensitive of all the shapes because its faceting scatters light so heavily, so any metal works well here. Yellow gold gives the warmest classic look, white gold the most contemporary. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and holds bead set pave more securely over years of knocks.

Frequently asked questions

Why six claws instead of four?
Six claws hold the stone at more points around the girdle, which is more secure as carat weight rises, and they give the stone a rounder outline. Four claws show more of the stone but expose slightly more of its edge. Six is the traditional choice for a round brilliant.

What is a hidden halo?
A ring of small diamonds set around the base of the centre stone, facing outward rather than upward. From above you see only the round. From the side it reads as a bright collar under the stone, and it raises the centre so light can enter from below.

Does pave make the ring harder to resize?
Pave on the shoulders only, as here, leaves the back of the band plain, so resizing is straightforward. Full eternity pave is the version that limits resizing.

Why is a round brilliant the most popular shape?
Its 57 facets are cut to return the maximum amount of light back to the eye, so it produces more sparkle than any other shape at the same weight. It is also the most forgiving of colour and clarity because that sparkle masks small differences.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut grade and carat weight.

How long does it take to make?
Production usually takes ten to fourteen working days, plus shipping time to your address.
