A round brilliant lab grown diamond held in six slender claws above a hidden halo, on a plain band that tapers as it approaches the head. The taper is a small detail that does a lot of work. By narrowing the shank where it meets the setting, the band appears to shrink away from the stone, and the centre diamond looks larger by comparison than it would on a shank of even width. Six claws rather than four keep the outline circular and spread the load evenly around the girdle, which matters as carat weight climbs. Everything else is left plain so nothing competes. A round brilliant is the least colour sensitive shape because its faceting scatters light so heavily, so every metal works well. Yellow gold gives the classic warm look, white gold the most contemporary. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K, which is worth considering on a plain polished band that shows scratches more readily than a pave one.

Frequently asked questions

What does a tapered band do?
The shank narrows as it approaches the setting. Because the band is thinnest right beside the diamond, the stone reads larger by contrast. It is a long standing jeweller's trick for making a centre stone look bigger without adding cost.

Why six claws instead of four?
Six claws hold the stone at more points around its girdle, which is more secure as carat weight rises, and they preserve a soft circular outline. Four claws reveal more of the stone but leave a little more of its edge exposed.

What is a hidden halo?
A ring of small diamonds set around the base of the centre stone, facing outward instead of upward. From above you see only the round. From the side it reads as a bright collar beneath the stone.

Will a wedding band sit flush?
Yes. The head sits above the band rather than extending down the finger, so a straight wedding band meets it cleanly without needing a curve or notch.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut grade and carat weight.

How long does it take to make?
