Two lab grown diamonds set side by side on a single plain band, a pear and a radiant cut, each held in its own claws and angled toward the other. This is a toi et moi, French for you and me, and it is one ring rather than two. The pairing sets a curve against a rectangle. A pear tapers to a single point and is all sweeping outline, a radiant is squared off with cropped corners and reads as a solid block, and placing them shoulder to shoulder makes each one look more like itself than it would alone. Both are brilliant faceted, so unlike a pairing with a step cut they sparkle at the same rate, and the contrast stays purely a matter of shape. The band is left completely plain. E colour, VVS2 clarity in both, free IGI certificates. Made to order in Surat in ten metals and four carat weights.

Yellow and rose gold give the design the warm antique character the style was born with, white gold makes it read as contemporary and lets the two outlines dominate. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and better protects the fine V claw at the pear point.

Frequently asked questions

What does toi et moi mean?
It is French for you and me. The design places two stones side by side on one ring to represent two people, and dates back to the eighteenth century. Napoleon gave Josephine a toi et moi in 1796, which is why the style is so closely associated with engagement.

Is this one ring or two?
One ring. Both diamonds are set on a single shank. It is not a bridal set and does not separate.

Why pair a pear with a radiant?
Because one is all curve and the other all straight edge, while both are brilliant faceted so they sparkle alike. The contrast stays purely a matter of outline rather than of light, which makes it a quieter pairing than a brilliant set against a step cut.

How is the carat weight divided?
