A pear cut lab grown emerald held point up by claws, with a small cluster of round white diamonds set tight against each side of the stone and marquise cut diamond accents running down the shank. This is a colour first design. An emerald is not judged the way a diamond is. Where a diamond is graded for colourlessness, an emerald is valued for the depth and evenness of its green, and the stone here is a strong vivid green rather than the pale or bluish material often sold as emerald. Rose gold is a deliberate choice against it. Green and warm pink are close to opposite on the colour wheel, so the metal pushes the green forward rather than muddying it, which yellow gold can do. Accent stones and band

Three small round white lab grown diamonds are grouped against each side of the emerald. Marquise cut diamond accents continue down both shoulders, each individually claw set with polished metal between them. The lower shank is left plain.

Frequently asked questions

What is a lab grown emerald?
An emerald grown in controlled conditions rather than mined. It has the same beryl chemistry, hardness and colour as a mined emerald. Only the origin differs, and it avoids the sourcing questions that surround mined emerald.

How is emerald quality judged?
Almost entirely on colour. A strong, evenly saturated green is what matters most, ahead of clarity. Emeralds naturally contain inclusions, and unlike a diamond these are expected rather than treated as flaws. This stone is eye clean, meaning no inclusions visible without magnification.

Is an emerald durable enough for daily wear?
Emerald is softer than diamond and more prone to chipping at exposed points, which is why the tip of this pear is protected by its own claw. It is well suited to an engagement ring worn normally, though we would suggest removing it for heavy manual work.

Why rose gold?
Green and rose sit opposite each other on the colour wheel, so the warm metal makes the green look deeper and more vivid. Yellow gold sits closer to green and can flatten it slightly.

Are the accent stones diamonds?
