A pear cut lab grown diamond held by just three claws on a fine polished band. Three is the minimum a pear can safely take, and using the minimum is the entire point of this design. One V shaped claw caps the point where the stone is most vulnerable, and two more grip the wide rounded end. Nothing sits along the sides, so the full outline of the pear is visible from every angle with almost no metal interrupting it. Compared to a five or six claw setting the stone appears to float, and more light reaches the pavilion because so little of the stone is covered. It is the most minimal way to set a pear without resorting to a bezel. E colour, VVS2 clarity, free IGI certificate for the centre stone. Made to order in Surat in ten metals and four carat weights.

With so little metal in the design the colour choice reads clearly against the stone rather than around it. Yellow gold gives a warm outline that emphasises the pear silhouette. White gold nearly disappears and lets the stone dominate completely. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K, which matters on a three claw head where each claw carries more load.

Frequently asked questions

Are three claws secure enough?
Yes, when they are made correctly. Three points of contact are geometrically stable, and the V claw over the point protects the most fragile part of the stone. We build the claws heavier than we would on a five claw head to compensate. If you work with your hands a lot and want more coverage, we can make it with five claws at no extra cost.

Why choose three claws over five?
Visibility. Every claw covers a little of the stone, so fewer claws means more diamond on show and more light reaching it. Three claws is the minimalist choice for someone who wants the shape itself to be the design.

Does a pear make the finger look longer?
Yes. The long axis of the stone runs along the finger and the eye follows that line, which is why pear and marquise are the shapes most often recommended for an elongating effect.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut grade and carat weight.

How long does it take to make?
