Frequently asked questions

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond? Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it is grown in a laboratory rather than extracted from the earth. It is graded by the same laboratories using the same criteria.

What color and clarity are the diamonds in this ring? Both the pear cut center stone and the pave accents are E color and VVS2 clarity. E is in the colorless range, and VVS2 means inclusions are very difficult to see even under ten times magnification, so the stones are completely eye clean.

Why choose a pave band over a plain one? A pave band keeps light moving along the finger rather than stopping at the center stone, so the ring reads brighter overall. A plain band is quieter and easier to resize. This design takes the brighter option.

Can a pave band be resized? Yes, within limits. Because stones run down both shoulders, resizing is done at the plain section at the back of the band. We can usually move two sizes either way, and since every ring is made to order it is simpler to tell us your size up front.

Is the point of a pear cut fragile? The point is the most exposed part of any pear, which is why a prong sits directly over the tip. Worn normally the stone is as durable as any other cut, since a lab grown diamond has the same hardness as a mined one.

Does this ring come with certification? Yes. Every center stone ships with an IGI certificate at no additional charge. IGI is one of the largest independent gemological laboratories grading lab grown diamonds.
