A pear cut lab grown diamond in a six claw setting with pave wrapping the whole basket, carried on cathedral arches finished with beading and a bezel set diamond at each base. Everything decorative on this ring sits below the girdle of the centre stone. Look at it face on and you see a pear and a plain gold band. Turn your hand and an entire second design appears underneath, a continuous ring of pave around the basket, beaded arches rising from the shank, and a small round diamond bezel set into each shoulder where the arch lands. Antique rings were built this way as a matter of course, because a ring is seen from the side far more often than from directly above. Free IGI certificate for the centre stone. Accent stones and band

Pave diamonds run continuously around the basket rather than sitting in two separate rows. Cathedral arches rise from the shank to the head, each set with a small pave panel and edged in fine beading, and a round diamond sits in a raised bezel where each arch meets the band. The lower shank is plain polished metal.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. Yellow gold, as photographed, gives the gallery an antique warmth and defines each arch clearly. White gold and sterling silver make the pave and beading read more sharply. Frequently asked questions

Why is the decoration all underneath?
Because that is where it is seen. From directly above, a ring shows only its outline. From every other angle, and especially when you look down at your own hand, the gallery is the part in view. Antique makers understood this and treated the underside as a finished surface.

What is a wraparound hidden halo?
Pave that runs the full circumference of the basket rather than sitting as one row on each side. It means the ring returns light from every direction below the stone instead of only from two.

Why six claws on a pear?
The point of a pear is the part most likely to chip. A V shaped claw caps it and absorbs any knock, and the remaining claws hold the rounded belly so the stone cannot turn in its setting.

What are cathedral arches?
Shoulders that curve upward to meet the head rather than running straight into it. They add strength where the head joins the shank and lift the stone slightly clear of the finger.

Does a pear look larger than a round?
Yes. It spreads its weight along its length rather than downward, so it covers more finger than a round of the same carat weight, and the point lengthens the finger visually.
