Band details

The shank starts as a plain rounded band, swells gently into the decorated shoulder panels and then meets the head. That change in width is what gives the ring its antique proportion. It also keeps most of the band smooth, so the ring is comfortable and can be resized without disturbing the detail.

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Yellow gold is the most period correct choice and makes the milgrain read clearly. Milgrain is a border of tiny raised metal beads run along an edge with a hand tool. It was a standard finishing technique in Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco jewellery, and it softens hard edges by scattering light along them.

Does milgrain wear away?
It wears very slowly, and only on the parts of a ring that rub against other surfaces. On shoulder panels like these, where the beading sits above the contact points, it stays sharp for many years. It can also be re-cut by a jeweller if it ever softens.

Does an oval look bigger than a round?
Yes. For the same carat weight an oval spreads further across the finger than a round brilliant, so it looks larger face up.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness, refractive index and fire as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled environment rather than pulled from the ground.
