An oval laboratory grown diamond framed by a vintage style pave halo on a fine milgrain band, designed from the start to be worn as a stack. The proportions of the halo and the height of the head leave room for a curved or straight wedding band to nestle neatly against it, so the two rings look like a matched bridal set.

  • Colour and clarity: E colour, VVS2 clarity

  • Made: To order in Surat, India

Designed to stack

Many halo rings are awkward to pair with a wedding band because the halo sits low and wide. This design sets the halo at a height and width that suits stacking, and the fine band means two rings together still look delicate. The vintage details, milgrain edges and pave, carry across naturally to a matching band.

How it differs from our other oval vintage halos

Our filigree, compass, milgrain band, Art Deco and petite halos each focus on a decorative detail. This one is proportioned first and foremost for wearing with a wedding band.

What laboratory grown means here

A laboratory grown diamond is a diamond. It is crystallised carbon with the same cubic structure, the same 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index of 2.42 and the same dispersion as a mined stone. Ours are grown by chemical vapour deposition and high pressure high temperature methods, then cut and polished by hand. This is not moissanite, not cubic zirconia and not a simulant. A gemmologist testing it will read diamond, because it is diamond.

Metals

Choose 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Rose gold is especially popular for vintage stacks. 10K is the hardest alloy, 14K is the everyday balance, and 18K is the richest colour but the softest metal. White gold is rhodium plated and will want replating every one to two years.

Every centre stone arrives IGI certified

The centre diamond is graded by IGI, the International Gemological Institute, and the certificate comes with the ring at no extra charge. It states the carat weight, the E colour grade, the VVS2 clarity grade, the measurements and the girdle inscription, and confirms in writing that the stone is laboratory grown.

Made to order in our own workshop

Mapple Gems is a family run workshop in Surat, India, where most of the world's diamonds are cut and polished. The halo is built around your oval, the pave is set under a microscope and the milgrain is applied by hand. Allow two to three weeks for making, plus shipping.

Looking after it

Warm water, mild washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush. Brush gently around the halo and along the band. Take it off for the gym, gardening and swimming.

Questions we are asked

What colour and clarity is the diamond? Every centre stone is E colour and VVS2 clarity, on every metal and every carat weight. The halo and pave are matched to the same grade.

Is a wedding band included? No. This listing is the engagement ring; it is designed to pair with a band.

Is this a genuine antique? No. It is newly made to order in a vintage inspired style.

Will a straight band sit flush? Close to it, and a curved band nests perfectly.

Can it be resized? Within limits. A plain section at the base allows adjustment.
