Cluster work shows a lot of fine metal between stones, and that metal is part of the pattern rather than something to hide. Yellow gold is the historically correct choice for this style and makes the cluster read strongly as antique. White gold gives a cooler, more contemporary version of the same design. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and holds fine cluster settings more securely.

How is a cluster halo different from a normal halo?
A standard halo is a single even ring of identical small stones. A cluster halo mixes stone shapes and sizes and lets some project beyond the outline, so the edge is broken and radiating rather than smooth. It is a much older technique and reads as antique rather than modern.

Does the halo make the ring look bigger?
Considerably. The cluster extends the head well past the centre stone, so the ring presents far larger than its carat weight would suggest. This is the most effective halo style for visual size.

Is this style harder to keep clean?
There are more settings than on a plain solitaire, so it benefits from an occasional soak and a soft brush. We include lifetime cleaning and a bead check, so bring it in or send it back whenever it needs attention.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?
Because the halo extends outward, a straight band may leave a small gap at the front. We can make a matching contoured band that follows the cluster outline if you want a perfect fit, just ask.
