An oval cut lab grown diamond flanked by two matched side stones, all three held in a trellis setting where the claws cross under and over one another instead of rising in separate baskets. That crossing is what distinguishes a trellis from a standard three stone mount. It knits the three stones into one continuous head, lets them sit closer together with less metal showing between them, and lifts the whole group off the finger so light can travel underneath. Seen from the side the woven claws are the feature, which is why this setting is usually photographed in profile. Three stones are traditionally read as past, present and future. On a trellis the metal is genuinely part of the design because the crossed claws are visible from every angle, so yellow gold reads as warm and sculptural while white gold makes the claws recede and the three stones dominate. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and keeps a trellis head rigid over time.

What is a trellis setting?
A setting where the claws cross over and under each other beneath the stones rather than rising straight up in separate baskets. It raises the stones, opens the sides to light, and lets the three sit closer together than a standard three stone mount allows.

What does a three stone ring mean?
The three stones are usually read as past, present and future, one for where a couple started, one for where they are, one for what is ahead. That is why trilogy rings are given for engagements and milestone anniversaries alike.

Does the carat weight include the side stones?
No. The carat option you choose is the weight of the centre oval only. The side stones are additional and are matched in proportion so the ring stays balanced at every carat weight.

Is a trellis setting secure for everyday wear?
Yes. The interlocking claws brace each other, which makes the head stiffer than separate baskets. As with any claw setting we recommend a check once a year, which we do free of charge for life.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
