This is the single most requested configuration in engagement rings, and the reason is arithmetic rather than fashion. A halo extends the outline of the head well past the centre stone, so a 2 carat oval set this way presents at close to the width of a 3 carat solitaire. On a halo the metal between the halo stones and the centre is visible, so the colour determines how unified the head looks. White gold merges halo and centre into one bright block and maximises the size illusion. Yellow and rose gold draw a warm outline around the oval, which defines the shape more clearly. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and holds fine halo settings more securely.

Frequently asked questions

How much bigger does a halo make the ring look?
Typically it adds the appearance of half a carat to a full carat depending on the halo width. A 2 carat oval in a halo often reads close to a 3 carat solitaire from normal viewing distance, at a fraction of the cost of that extra weight.

Halo or hidden halo, which should I choose?
A visible halo surrounds the stone and makes it look larger from above. A hidden halo sits underneath and is seen only from the side, adding brightness without changing the outline. Choose a visible halo if size is the priority.

Do halo stones come loose?
They are bead set into seats cut in the metal, which is secure and standard in fine jewellery. We include a lifetime bead check and cleaning, so any settling can be corrected free of charge.

Does an oval look bigger than a round of the same weight?
Generally yes. An oval spreads its weight across a longer surface, so it presents more face up area than a round of identical carat, and the elongated outline flatters the finger.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.

Do I get a certificate?
