A marquise cut lab grown diamond bezel set east to west, sunk flush into a band that swells to meet it. There are no claws anywhere on this ring. A continuous rim of metal wraps the entire edge of the stone and holds it from all sides, and because the band thickens toward the centre the stone sits level with the metal rather than perched above it. The whole ring has a single smooth profile with nothing raised to catch on clothing, which makes it one of the most genuinely practical settings for daily wear. A bezel puts a solid ring of metal directly against the stone, so the metal colour influences how the diamond reads more than in any claw setting. Yellow gold gives a warm frame and a strong graphic outline. White gold keeps the stone looking as colourless as possible. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and resists denting on a bezel rim.

Why bezel set a marquise?
A marquise has two sharp points, which are the thinnest and most chip prone parts of the stone. A full bezel encloses both in metal, so it is the most protective way to set this shape and the best choice for someone hard on their hands.

What does east west mean?
The stone is rotated ninety degrees from the usual orientation, so its long axis runs across the finger instead of along it. It is a modern styling choice that gives a wider, more graphic look.

Is a bezel setting good for everyday wear?
It is the best of the common settings for it. There are no claws to snag or bend, the profile is low and smooth, and the stone is enclosed on every side.

Does a bezel make the stone look smaller?
The rim covers the very edge of the stone, but it also adds a bright metal outline that extends the visible shape, so in practice the head often reads larger overall rather than smaller.
