A marquise cut and a pear cut lab grown diamond set side by side and tilted toward one another on a plain slim band. Toi et Moi means you and me, and the design is literal. Two stones, not one, leaning together at the centre of the ring. What makes this particular pairing work is that both shapes are pointed at one end and rounded at the other, so setting them in opposition creates a symmetry that neither stone has on its own. The marquise points outward on one side, the pear points down on the other, and their curved bodies meet in the middle. Napoleon gave Josephine a Toi et Moi in 1796 and the style has never really left. E colour, VVS2 clarity throughout, free IGI certificate. With two stones meeting at the centre, the small amount of metal between them is what separates one from the other. Yellow and rose gold draw that dividing line clearly, white gold lets the pair read as one continuous form. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and better protects the points of both stones.

Frequently asked questions

What does Toi et Moi mean?
You and me in French. The ring holds two stones rather than one, representing two people. Napoleon Bonaparte proposed to Josephine with a Toi et Moi ring in 1796, which is where the style's association with engagement begins.

Does the carat option apply to both stones?
The carat you select is the total for the pair, divided between the marquise and the pear so the two are balanced in size. At 4 carat, for example, you are getting two substantial stones rather than one.

Why a marquise with a pear?
Both shapes have one pointed end and one rounded body, so setting them opposed creates a symmetry neither has alone. Two identical shapes would read as a repetition. These two read as a pair.

Are the points fragile?
The tips of both stones are the most exposed part, which is why each sits under a V shaped claw that wraps both edges. Protected that way the ring is suitable for everyday wear.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.
