Emerald cuts show body colour more readily than brilliant cuts because of their open table, so a white metal is the safest choice if you want the stone to read as icy as possible. Yellow and rose gold give a warmer, more vintage result that suits the architectural shape. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and protects the corners of the stone better over time.

Frequently asked questions

Why does clarity matter more in an emerald cut?
An emerald cut has a large open table and few facets to break up light, so there is nowhere for an inclusion to hide. In a round brilliant the sparkle masks small flaws. That is why we set these at VVS2, where nothing is visible to the naked eye.

Does an emerald cut sparkle less than a round?
It sparkles differently rather than less. A round scatters light into many small flashes. An emerald cut throws wide flashes from its long parallel facets, giving a cleaner, more architectural look that many people prefer.

Does an emerald cut look bigger for its weight?
Usually yes. The shape spreads its carat weight across a longer, wider outline, so it presents more surface area face up than a round of the same weight, and the elongated shape flatters the finger.

What is a hidden halo?
A ring of small diamonds set around the base of the centre stone, facing outward instead of upward. From above you see the emerald cut on its own. From the side it shows as a bright collar beneath the stone.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.
