Elongated Cushion Cut Lab Grown Diamond Ring on a Marquise Station Band

An elongated cushion cut lab grown diamond over a concealed halo, on a band carrying marquise cut diamonds set end to end with a small gold bead between each pair, running down both shoulders and stopping before the back of the finger.

The reason the accent line is marquise rather than round comes down to what happens at the ends of the run. A row of round stones has no direction, so wherever it stops it simply stops, and the last stone sits against plain metal as an abrupt full stop. A marquise has a point at each end, and a line of them laid end to end is already pointing along the band, so when the run finishes the final tip carries the eye onward into the plain shank rather than halting there. That is why this arrangement reads as tapering away even though every accent stone in it is the same size. It is the cheapest way in a jeweller's vocabulary to get the effect of a graduated shank without the cost of cutting five or six different calibrated sizes.

Band details
