An elongated cushion cut lab grown diamond held in four broad flat claws, set as low to the band as the shape allows. There is almost no gallery here. Where most solitaires raise the stone on a basket to let light travel underneath, this one seats the cushion directly against a plain knife edge shank, so in profile the ring is little more than a band with a diamond lying along it. That decision has a practical consequence as well as a visual one. A low seat cannot catch on clothing, cannot lever against a knock, and keeps the stone from feeling perched, which is the usual complaint about very large stones on very fine bands. Metal options

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. With no accent stones and very little metal at the head, the band itself is most of what you see besides the diamond. Yellow and rose gold read as a fine warm line under a large stone, white gold makes the ring look almost entirely like diamond. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and keeps a knife edge crisp.

Frequently asked questions

What does low set mean?
The stone sits as close to the band as its depth allows, rather than being raised on a basket or cathedral arch. It gives a very flat profile and the least possible height above the finger.

Why choose a low setting?
Nothing catches on clothing or gloves, the ring cannot be levered by a knock, and it sits comfortably under other rings. It is the most practical way to wear a large stone every day.

Does a low setting reduce sparkle?
Slightly less light enters from beneath than in a raised setting, but a cushion returns most of its light through the crown regardless, so the difference is small in practice.

What is an elongated cushion?
A cushion cut stretched into a rectangle while keeping its softly rounded corners. It runs along the finger and slims the hand the way an oval does, while retaining the antique character of a cushion.

Is this easy to pair with a wedding band?
It is the easiest kind. The head sits so low that a flat band rests almost flush alongside it, with no pave to line up.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.
