An elongated cushion cut lab grown diamond in four claws, carried on a hidden halo that runs the full outline of the basket, above a band whose accents are deliberately spaced apart with plain polished metal between them.

Spacing is the whole idea. Most accented shanks aim for coverage: stones packed as tightly as the metal allows, so the band reads as a continuous line of light. Setting them apart does the opposite and gets a different result. Each accent is surrounded by polished gold on both sides, and polished gold is a mirror. Instead of one stone's brightness merging into the next, every accent is isolated against a reflective ground and reads individually, the way a single star reads against a dark sky and a hundred stars read as a smear. It also changes what the ring does at a distance: dense pave dissolves into a grey line beyond a metre or two, while spaced accents stay visible as discrete points of light much further away. The trade off is that spacing exposes the metal, so every millimetre of the shank between stones has to be finished properly, since there is nowhere for a poor polish to hide.

Yes. It is carbon in the same crystal structure as a mined diamond, with the same hardness and the same optical properties, graded on the same scales.
