An elongated cushion cut lab grown diamond in four claws, on a shank that divides into two arms below the head, with two separate rows of pave concealed underneath the stone. Look at this ring from the front and it is a plain cushion solitaire on a polished band. The engineering is entirely on the underside. The shank splits as it rises, so the head is carried on two arms instead of one post, and the load of a large centre stone is spread across a wider footprint rather than concentrated at a single junction. In the open space that split creates sit two rows of diamonds, one hugging the basket and one along the bridge below it, neither visible from above. Band details

A polished band that divides into two arms as it approaches the head, meeting the basket from either side and leaving an open window between them. Two rows of pave sit beneath the centre stone, one in the basket and one along the bridge. The lower shank is plain and undivided.

Frequently asked questions

What is a divided shank?
A band that separates into two arms before reaching the head, so the stone is carried from both sides rather than by one central post. It spreads the load and opens a window beneath the diamond.

What are the twin pave rows?
Two separate lines of small diamonds under the centre stone. The upper row wraps the basket, the lower row runs along the bridge between the arms. Neither can be seen from above.

Is a divided shank stronger?
For a large centre stone, generally yes. Two arms distribute stress across a wider area than one junction, which reduces the chance of the head loosening over years of wear.

What is an elongated cushion cut?
A rectangle with rounded corners and a brilliant faceting pattern. Elongated means cut longer than wide, which flatters the finger and gives more spread than a square cushion of the same weight.

Is the open gallery harder to keep clean?
Easier, in fact. Water and soap pass straight through an open structure, whereas a solid basket has to be flushed out.
