An elongated cushion cut lab grown diamond held in a full bezel, raised on a cathedral mount whose shoulders arch up from the band to meet it. Two settings that are rarely combined are working together here. A bezel wraps the entire edge of the stone in a continuous rim of metal, which is the most secure and lowest maintenance way to hold a diamond, but on its own it can sit flat and read heavy. Putting that bezel on cathedral arches lifts it clear of the finger and opens the gallery underneath, so light enters from below and the mass of metal is broken by the space beneath the stone. Why combine a bezel with a cathedral?
A bezel alone sits low and can look heavy because of the amount of metal around the stone. Cathedral arches raise it and open the space underneath, so you keep the security of a full bezel but the ring reads lighter and lets more light into the pavilion.

Is a bezel the most secure setting?
Yes. The stone is held around its entire circumference rather than at four or six points, and there are no claws to bend or catch. It is what jewellers recommend for people who work with their hands.

Does a bezel make the stone look smaller?
