East West Oval Lab Grown Diamond Solitaire Ring with Thin Band

An oval cut lab grown diamond turned on its side and set east to west across the finger, held in four claws on a thin plain band. Most oval rings run the stone lengthways along the finger. Turning it sideways changes the whole character of the ring. The stone reads wider, it fills the width of the finger, and the effect is modern and slightly unexpected rather than traditional. The band is deliberately narrow so nothing competes with the stone.

Band details

The shank is a thin plain round wire with a high polish, with no accent stones anywhere on the ring. It is one of the narrowest bands we make, which is what allows the oval to look as wide as it does. The claws rise directly from the band with a low profile basket underneath.

Metal options

Choose 925 sterling silver with rhodium plating, or solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Yellow gold gives the warm minimal look shown in the photographs and is the most popular choice for this design. Rose gold reads softer. White gold, rhodium finished, makes the band almost disappear so the stone appears to float. Every metal is hallmarked and every carat weight is available in every metal.

Is the centre stone a real diamond
Yes. A lab grown diamond is chemically, physically and optically identical to a mined diamond and is graded on the same scale by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the centre stone is included at no extra cost with every order.

What does east west setting mean
It means the long axis of the stone runs across the finger rather than along it. The stone is the same, only the orientation of the setting changes.

Does an east west oval look smaller
No, but it looks different. Set lengthways an oval slims and lengthens the finger. Set sideways it spans the finger, which reads bolder and more contemporary. Many people prefer it on shorter fingers.

Is a thin band strong enough for a large stone
Yes. We increase the wall thickness under the setting where the load is carried, so the band stays slim in appearance without losing strength. For 4 and 5 carat centres we recommend 14K or 18K gold over silver.

Can I wear a wedding band beside it
Yes. The straight thin shank sits flush against a plain band. Because the stone sits sideways there is no overhang at the sides.
