Rather than the band running straight into the base of the setting, it sweeps upward on each side in an arch, so the stone is carried rather than simply mounted.

A cathedral bridge does three things at once. It lifts the stone clear of the finger so light reaches the pavilion from underneath, it puts metal where a horizontal stone needs the most support, and it leaves a gap beneath the girdle that a wedding band can tuck into. Band details

The shank is a plain polished band that rises into the arched bridge as it approaches the head and carries no stones along its length. Keeping the outside of the band bare lets the arch of the bridge be the shape you notice in profile, and it means the ring is easy to resize and takes an engraving cleanly.

Metal options

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Rose gold warms the arch and reads soft against the horizontal stone. Yellow gold gives it a richer, more traditional weight. White gold and sterling silver make the bridge disappear so the cushion looks suspended. Every metal is finished by hand in our workshop.

14K and 18K gold are the most durable choices for a ring worn every day. 10K is harder still. Sterling silver is softer and suits gentler wear or a first ring.
