Step 1
Design & Selection
We finalise your design and hand-pick the certified center stone.
Save 20%A cushion cut lab grown diamond with four further stones running along the band, two on each side, graduating outward from the centre. A five stone ring is an older idea than the solitaire and reads quite differently on the hand, the line of stones follows the finger rather than sitting as a single point, so the ring has length and rhythm instead of one focal moment. Cushions suit the arrangement particularly well because their rounded corners let each stone sit close to its neighbour without hard edges meeting. Every diamond is a laboratory grown diamond, identical in carbon structure, hardness and brilliance to a mined diamond, graded E colour and VVS2 clarity. Each ring is made to order in our own Surat workshop and ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone.
This ring is made to order in ten metal choices, so you can match it to jewellery you already wear.
All gold options are solid gold, never plated or filled. White gold is finished with rhodium for a bright white surface and lets the five stones read as one continuous line. Yellow and rose gold put a visible band of metal between each stone, which makes the graduation easier to see.
Choose your ring size at checkout. We make every size from US 3 to US 13, including half sizes, at no additional cost. If you are unsure of the size, order anyway and contact us after checkout, we will help you confirm it before the ring goes into production.
Want three stones instead of five, equal sized stones rather than graduated, a different centre shape, pave between the settings, engraving inside the shank, or a matching wedding band shaped to sit against the line, we can make it. For any other customization request please contact us at https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and we will quote it for you.
The carat selection is the weight of the cushion centre stone. The four side stones are proportioned to it and included in addition, so a larger centre selection comes with correspondingly larger sides.
A five stone ring sets a centre diamond with two further stones on each side, usually graduating in size outward. The style predates the modern solitaire and was common in Victorian and Edwardian jewellery. It is sometimes given as an anniversary ring, with the five stones read as marking stages of a relationship, though it works equally well as an engagement ring.
Because their corners are rounded. Setting five square cornered stones in a row leaves sharp points meeting each other, which is both harder to set well and more vulnerable to chipping. A cushion has no sharp corners, so the stones sit comfortably against one another and the line stays smooth.
Yes. A lab grown diamond is real diamond. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index and the same fire and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled laboratory over a few weeks instead of underground over billions of years. No jeweller can tell the difference by eye, only specialist equipment reading growth patterns can separate the two.
Yes. Every ring ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone. IGI is the International Gemological Institute, one of the largest independent diamond grading laboratories in the world. The certificate confirms the carat weight, the E colour grade, the VVS2 clarity grade and the laboratory grown origin. There is no extra charge for the certificate.
Within a moderate range. The stones occupy a good portion of the top of the ring, so there is less plain metal to work with than on a solitaire, though more than on an eternity band. Tell us if you are unsure of your size and we will help you measure before production.
E colour is the second highest grade on the diamond colour scale and sits inside the colourless range, so the diamond looks bright white with no warm or yellow tint. VVS2 means very very slightly included, the second highest clarity tier. Any inclusions are so small that a trained grader needs 10x magnification to find them and they are completely invisible to the naked eye.
A lab grown diamond gives you a materially identical stone for a fraction of the price of a mined equivalent, and on a five stone ring that saving applies five times over. Matched graduated cushions would also be slow and costly to source as mined stones, since they must agree in colour and clarity as well as size. Because the origin of every stone is documented from the moment it is grown, a lab grown diamond is conflict free by definition.
Mapple Gems is a made to order fine jewellery workshop based in Surat, India, the city that cuts and polishes the majority of the world's diamonds. We design and hand finish every lab grown diamond piece in house rather than reselling stock, which is why every ring on this store can be adjusted to the metal, carat weight and size you actually want. Our team works only with laboratory grown and certified stones, and every order is inspected and photographed before it leaves the workshop.
