International parcels can carry import charges that are collected on delivery, and carriers contact whoever's name and number are on the parcel to arrange it. If the parcel is addressed to your home with her name on it, she may get the call — and be asked to pay. If you're sending it to a shared home as a surprise, put your own name and phone number on the order, check whether the price is landed, and check the destination country's official customs guidance, because the rules change. If you're sending it to her at a separate address as a gift, the opposite applies: her own number helps the parcel through.

Once it arrives

Keep it in its pouch or box, with the paperwork, so nothing gets separated.

Hide it somewhere dry and stable — not a bathroom cabinet, a car glovebox or anywhere that gets hot or damp. A coat pocket you don't wear or a box of work papers is better.
