Frequently asked questions

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond? Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it is grown in a laboratory rather than extracted from the earth. It is graded by the same laboratories using the same criteria.

What color and clarity are the diamonds in this ring? Both stones are E color and VVS2 clarity. Matching them matters particularly here, because the two sit directly against each other with nothing between them, so any difference in tone would be obvious.

What does toi et moi mean? It is French for you and me. The style dates back to the eighteenth century and became famous when Napoleon proposed to Josephine with a two stone ring. The two stones are traditionally read as the two people in the relationship.

Why pair an oval with an emerald cut? Because they contrast. The oval is a brilliant cut with fine scattered sparkle and soft curves, the emerald a step cut with broad flashes and straight edges. Pairing two similar shapes would look like a mistake. Pairing opposites looks deliberate.
