Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond

Yes. A lab grown diamond is real diamond. It has the same carbon crystal structure, the same hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index and the same fire and brilliance as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled laboratory over a few weeks instead of underground over billions of years. No jeweller can tell the difference by eye, only specialist equipment reading growth patterns can separate the two.

Does this ring come with a certificate

Yes. Every ring ships with a free IGI certificate for the centre stone. IGI is the International Gemological Institute, one of the largest independent diamond grading laboratories in the world. The certificate confirms the carat weight, the E colour grade, the VVS2 clarity grade and the laboratory grown origin. There is no extra charge for the certificate.

What is a kite cut diamond

A kite cut is a four sided diamond with two short edges and two long ones meeting at a point, so it looks like a classic kite outline. It is usually step faceted, which gives broad flashes of light rather than the sparkle of a brilliant cut, and that contrast is exactly why it works well beside a brilliant marquise centre. Kites are a favourite in Art Deco and geometric designs because their straight edges sit flush against the centre stone with no visible gap.

Are the points on a marquise diamond fragile

The two tips are the one part of a marquise that needs protecting, which is why we set each one under a V shaped prong rather than a plain claw. The V wraps the point on both sides and shields it from knocks. Set that way a marquise is perfectly practical for daily wear, and we can add slightly heavier V tips on request if you work with your hands.

What does E colour VVS2 actually mean

E colour is the second highest grade on the diamond colour scale and sits inside the colourless range, so the diamond looks bright white with no warm or yellow tint. VVS2 means very very slightly included, the second highest clarity tier. Any inclusions are so small that a trained grader needs 10x magnification to find them and they are completely invisible to the naked eye.

How long will my order take

Every piece is made to order, so nothing is pulled off a shelf. Production takes about 10 to 12 working days, and shipping is 3 to 5 working days after that with tracked international courier. Rush production is possible, contact us before ordering if you have a fixed date.

Can I return or exchange the ring

Yes. We accept returns and exchanges within 30 days of delivery on unworn pieces in their original condition. Because every ring is made to order, please check the size guidance before you order so we can get it right the first time. Resizing is also available after delivery.
