A cigar band is broad and thick with a rounded outer face, closer in weight to a signet ring than to the thin wire shank most solitaires sit on, and it gives the ring a solidity that reads immediately on the hand. Because the metal is so substantial, the head does not need to be raised far to clear the finger, so the diamond sits low and the whole ring has a grounded, architectural profile rather than a delicate one. Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. A cigar band carries far more metal than a standard shank, so the colour is the loudest thing about the ring after the stone. Yellow and rose gold make it read as a bold gold statement, white gold keeps the weight but quiets it. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and holds a polished domed surface free of scratches for longer.

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. A wide band fits more snugly than a thin one, so if you are between sizes we recommend going up half a size. Ask us for a free size guide before ordering if you are unsure.

Custom orders

Frequently asked questions

What is a cigar band?
A wide, thick band with a rounded outer face, named for its resemblance to a cigar band. It carries considerably more metal than a standard shank and gives a solitaire a heavier, more architectural presence.

Does a wide band fit differently?
Yes. A wide band contacts more of the finger, so it feels tighter than a thin band of the same nominal size. If you are between sizes, choose the larger one.

Can I wear a wedding band with it?
The shank is already wide, so most people wear this ring on its own or with a band on the other hand. If you want a pairing, a very slim plain band alongside works best, and we can make one to match.

Why six claws instead of four?
Six spreads the holding pressure evenly around a circular girdle and keeps the outline of the round looking properly circular. It also balances visually against a heavy band, where four claws would look undersized.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut grade and carat weight.

How long does it take to make?
