A round brilliant lab grown diamond in six claws, on a fine plain band, with all of the detail placed where most people never look. The basket beneath the stone is not a plain cage. It is cut into pointed petal shapes that curve up around the pavilion like a flower opening, and set into the underside of that basket is a single small round diamond, the peek a boo stone, visible only when the ring is turned over or lifted off the finger. From above this reads as a completely clean six claw solitaire on a slim shank. The whole design is a private detail rather than a public one. Band details

A fine plain band that tapers slightly as it approaches the setting, polished with no stones along it. Its slimness is deliberate. It keeps the eye on the centre diamond and lets the petal basket show clearly from the side.

Frequently asked questions

What is a peek a boo diamond?
A small diamond set into the underside of the setting, hidden from view when the ring is worn. It is a private detail that only the wearer really sees, sometimes called a surprise or secret stone.

What is a petal basket?
The basket is the metal cage under the centre stone. Here it is shaped into pointed petals that curve up around the pavilion instead of being a plain band of metal, so the setting looks like a small flower from the side and underneath.

Is this the same as a hidden halo?
No. A hidden halo is a full ring of small diamonds around the girdle, visible from the side. This has one single stone set underneath, invisible from every angle except beneath the ring.

Why six claws instead of four?
Six claws hold a round brilliant more securely and preserve its perfectly round outline, which four claws slightly square off. On larger stones the extra support matters.

Does the openwork basket weaken the setting?
No. The petals are part of the structure and carry the claws. Open baskets also let light into the pavilion, which is why they are used on high quality solitaires.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut grade and carat weight.
