A round brilliant lab grown diamond held in six tapered claws, seated as low to the band as the stone's depth allows, on a plain polished shank. Most solitaires raise the diamond on a basket so light can travel underneath it, and accept the height that comes with that. This one does the opposite. The head is dropped almost onto the shank, so the ring has barely any profile above the finger and the stone reads as sitting in the band rather than on top of it. Six claws hold it rather than four, which keeps the outline properly circular and spreads the pressure evenly at that low seat. Nothing else has been added anywhere. E colour, VVS2 clarity, free IGI certificate. Made to order in Surat in ten metals and four carat weights.

Metal options

With no accent stones and very little metal at the head, the band is most of what you see besides the diamond. Yellow and rose gold read as a fine warm line under a large stone, white gold makes the whole ring look like diamond. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and keeps a slim shank from bending.

Frequently asked questions

What does low set mean?
The stone sits as close to the band as its depth allows, rather than being raised on a basket or cathedral arch. It gives a very flat profile and the least possible height above the finger.

Why choose a low setting?
Nothing catches on clothing or gloves, the ring cannot be levered by a knock, and it sits comfortably under other rings. It is the most practical way to wear a large stone every day.

Does a low setting reduce sparkle?
Slightly less light enters from beneath than in a raised setting. A round brilliant returns most of its light through the crown regardless, so in practice the difference is small.

Why six claws instead of four?
Six spreads the holding pressure evenly around a circular girdle and keeps the outline of the round looking properly circular. Four claws can make a round appear very slightly squared at the corners.

Is this easy to pair with a wedding band?
It is the easiest kind. The head sits so low that a flat band rests almost flush alongside it, with no pave to line up.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.
