A round brilliant lab grown diamond in six claws above a band whose accents are both spaced apart and graduated in size. The stone nearest the head is the largest, and each one after it is a little smaller, with clear polished metal visible between every accent.

Doing both at once is unusual. Most accented bands either graduate the stones and set them tight, or space them evenly at a single size. Combining the two means the shoulders taper twice over, once in stone size and once in the shrinking gaps between them, and the effect is that the band appears to recede into the finger rather than simply stopping.

Band details

The shank is a fine band carrying the graduated accents along its upper half and returning to plain metal at the back of the finger. Because the accents are individually seated with space either side, the band stays open and light, and the plain sections make the ring straightforward to resize.

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. White gold and sterling silver make the graduated line read as one continuous taper of light. Yellow gold outlines each accent so the size change is obvious. Rose gold softens the whole band. Every metal is finished by hand in our workshop.

Why graduate and space the accents?
Graduating the sizes draws the eye toward the centre stone. Spacing them leaves metal visible so the band keeps a delicate open look. Doing both makes the shoulders taper twice over and gives the ring more depth than either technique alone.

Why six claws instead of four?
Six claws spread the hold further around a round stone and cover slightly more of the girdle, which is the most chip prone edge. It is the traditional setting for a round brilliant.

Does a round brilliant sparkle more than other cuts?
Yes. Its fifty seven facets are angled specifically to return light straight back to the eye, so no other shape sparkles as hard at the same carat weight.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness, refractive index and fire as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled environment rather than pulled from the ground.

Will a wedding band sit flush?
The accents sit slightly proud of the shank so a straight band may leave a small gap. We can shape a contoured band that follows the taper if you want them to sit tight together.

Which metal is best for daily wear?
14K and 18K gold are the most durable choices for a ring worn every day. 10K is harder still. Sterling silver is softer and suits gentler wear or a first ring.
