A round brilliant lab grown diamond enclosed in a full rub over bezel, carried on shoulders that arch up and twist as they meet the setting. From above this reads as the plainest ring imaginable, a circle of diamond inside a circle of gold on a slim band. The interest is in the join. Instead of the shank running straight into the bezel wall, each shoulder rises in a cathedral arch and rolls over on itself where it reaches the head, so the metal appears to fold rather than simply stop. It is a small piece of construction that changes the whole side profile, giving a bezel setting the movement it normally lacks while keeping the completely snag free surface that makes a bezel worth choosing. Both the bezel and the twist are pure metalwork, so the colour is doing more here than on a claw set ring. Yellow and rose gold make the fold at the shoulder clearly visible, white gold quiets it and lets the stone dominate. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and resists denting on a bezel wall.

What is a bezel setting?
A continuous rim of metal that wraps the entire girdle of the stone and is burnished over its edge. It holds without claws, sits flush, and is the most protective setting there is.

What makes the shoulders twisted?
Each shoulder arches upward and rolls over on itself where it joins the bezel, so the metal folds rather than meeting the setting in a straight line. It is visible from the side rather than from above.

Is a bezel more secure than claws?
Yes. Claws can bend or wear and need periodic checking. A bezel grips the whole perimeter at once, which is why it suits people who work with their hands or never remove the ring.

What is a cathedral setting?
