The three stones are held in one connected structure, so nothing flexes and nothing sits proud. The pears are large enough to be read as diamonds rather than accents, and with no pave anywhere the ring is three stones and bare metal. With no pave anywhere the metal frames three stones and nothing else, and the basket adds a visible band of metalwork beneath the head. Yellow and rose gold show that structure clearly, white gold makes it recede so the three stones appear to float. For daily wear 14K is harder than 18K and better protects the points of the pear sides.

Frequently asked questions

What is a basket setting?
A closed framework of metal beneath the stone that connects the claws to each other, rather than four claws rising separately. It is more rigid, sits lower on the finger, and holds a multi stone head as a single unit.

Does a basket reduce sparkle?
Very slightly less light enters from directly underneath than in a fully open gallery, but the sides remain open and the trade is a lower, sturdier setting. On a three stone ring the rigidity matters more than on a solitaire.

Does the carat weight include the pears?
No. The carat option you choose is the weight of the round centre only. The two pear side stones are additional and scale in proportion at every carat weight.

What does a three stone ring mean?

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
