The shank is a slim polished band in the metal you choose, carrying no stones and no shaping. It rises directly into the base of the white gold head with a clean join, so the change of metal reads as a deliberate detail rather than a seam.

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Yellow gold with a white head is the version shown and the one this design was drawn for. Rose gold with a white head gives the same benefit with a softer band. If you choose white gold or sterling silver throughout, the ring is made in a single metal, since there is nothing to gain from a contrasting head when the shank is already white.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the head a different metal from the band?
A yellow or rose gold claw reflects its colour into the diamond and shows as a warm mark on the crown. A white gold claw does not, so the stone reads exactly as it was graded while the band stays warm.

Does a two tone ring look mismatched?
Not at this scale. The white metal is confined to the four claws and the basket, which is a very small area, and the usual reaction is simply that the claws are hard to see.

Why is a round brilliant the most popular cut?
Its fifty seven facets are proportioned specifically to return light through the top of the stone, so it produces more sparkle than any other shape. It is also the only cut with a full internationally agreed cut grade.

Does white gold need re plating?
