A round brilliant returns more light than any other cut, and putting it on a bare polished band means nothing at all interferes with that. No halo, no pave, no side stones, no shoulder detail.

Band details

The shank is a thin plain polished round band with no stones. We thicken the section under the basket so the ring stays strong where the load is carried while the visible band stays narrow. The inside edge is rounded for comfort.

Metal options

Choose 925 sterling silver with rhodium plating, or solid 10K, 14K or 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. White gold, rhodium finished, gives the bright colourless look shown in the photographs and is the traditional choice for a round solitaire. Yellow gold gives a warmer, more classic reading. Rose gold is the softest. Every metal is hallmarked and every carat weight is available in every metal.

Is the centre stone a real diamond
Yes. A lab grown diamond is chemically, physically and optically identical to a mined diamond and is graded on the same scale by the same laboratories.

Does the ring come with a certificate
Yes. An IGI certificate for the centre stone is included at no extra cost with every order.

Why is a round brilliant the most sparkly cut
Its 57 facets are arranged specifically to send light back out through the top of the stone. No other common cut returns as much light, which is why a round is the benchmark every other shape is measured against.

Four claws or six
Four claws show more of the stone and give a squarer look from above. Six hold more securely and make a round read slightly smaller. We fit four as standard and will make six at no extra cost.

Is a thin band strong enough for a large stone
Yes. The band is thickened where it matters, under the setting. For 4 and 5 carat centres we recommend 14K or 18K gold over sterling silver.

Can I wear a wedding band beside it
Yes. The straight thin shank sits flush against a plain or pave band on either side with no gap.

How long does it take to make
Made to order rings usually leave our workshop within 10 to 14 working days. We confirm the date by email once your size is set.
