Round Brilliant Cut Lab Grown Diamond Ring on a Graduated Diamond Shank

A round brilliant lab grown diamond in four split claws, on a shank set with round diamonds that reduce in size as they travel down each shoulder. The largest accents sit against the head and every stone after them is a little smaller than the last.

The round brilliant is worth understanding because it is the only diamond shape with a full internationally agreed cut grade, and that grade is not a matter of opinion. It measures whether the crown angle, pavilion angle, table size and depth fall inside the narrow band of proportions that returns light back out through the top of the stone rather than leaking it through the base. Get those angles wrong by a couple of degrees and a diamond of identical weight, colour and clarity goes visibly dull. It is the reason two stones with the same certificate figures on paper can look nothing alike, and why an excellent cut grade is the specification worth paying attention to first.

Band details

The shank is slim and rounded, carrying the graduated accents down the upper half of each shoulder and running plain from there to the base. The plain lower section keeps the ring comfortable and allows for resizing.

Metal options

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. White gold is shown here and it lets the graduation read as pure change in scale, with no metal colour breaking the sequence. Yellow and rose gold put a warm line between each accent, which makes the individual stones and the step down in size more obvious.

Ring size

This ring is available in a full range of US sizes. Select your size at checkout. If you are unsure of the size, contact us and we will help you measure at home before the ring is made.

Custom orders

We make every ring to order, which means the design can be adjusted. Ask us for equal sized accents, continuous pave, a plain shank, a hidden halo, six claws, a different centre shape or a matching wedding band. Write to us through https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and a member of our team will reply with drawings and a quote.

Frequently asked questions

What does an excellent cut grade actually measure?
Whether the crown angle, pavilion angle, table size and depth of the stone fall within the proportions that return light out through the top rather than losing it through the base. It is the specification that decides how bright a diamond looks.

Why does only the round brilliant have a full cut grade?
Because its geometry is symmetrical and standardised enough to be measured against an agreed ideal. Fancy shapes vary too much in outline for a single grading scale to apply.

What does graduated mean on a shank?
The accent stones reduce in size as they move away from the centre stone, which creates a sense of perspective and makes the centre look larger and further forward.

Why split claws?
Each claw divides into two slimmer tips, so the grip is spread across two points instead of one and less metal covers the stone than a single claw of the same strength would.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness, refractive index and fire as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled environment rather than pulled from the ground.

Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included with every order at no additional cost.

Can this ring be resized?
Yes. The accents stop partway down the shoulders, leaving the base of the shank plain for a jeweler to work on.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

A lab grown diamond gives you the same optical and physical properties as a mined stone at a far better price for the size and quality. Because the growth conditions are controlled, high color and high clarity stones like the E VVS2 used here are available in large carat weights that would be rare and costly in mined goods. It is also a traceable choice, with a known origin and no mining footprint.
