A radiant cut lab grown diamond on a band drawn as fine as a shank can safely be made. In photographs the metal nearly disappears against the skin and the stone reads as though it were resting on the finger unsupported. That is the entire intention of the design.

There is a practical reason people choose a wire thin band beyond the look. A narrow shank leaves room to stack. Two or three slim bands sit alongside it without the finger looking crowded, and because the head is low the stack lies flat rather than propping the engagement ring up at an angle. It is the most flexible base to build a ring stack on.

Band details

The shank is a very fine wire, round in profile and polished smooth, with no stones anywhere along it. We build it to a safe minimum thickness for the carat weight chosen and reinforce it where it meets the basket, which is the point that takes the most stress on any slim band.

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Yellow gold keeps a fine warm line visible against the skin. Rose gold blends closer to most skin tones and makes the band recede furthest. White gold and sterling silver read as a cool hairline. Every metal is finished by hand in our workshop.

Is a wire thin band strong enough for daily wear?
Yes in 10K, 14K and 18K gold, which is why we recommend those metals for this design. We reinforce the shank where it meets the basket and build to a safe minimum thickness. Sterling silver is softer and better suited to occasional wear.

Does a thin band make the diamond look larger?
It does. The eye judges the stone against whatever sits beside it, so a narrow shank gives the centre nothing to compete with. It is the simplest way to gain apparent size without paying for more carat.
