A radiant cut lab grown diamond in four claws, lifted on a basket wrapped in a concealed row of pave, above a shank set with micro pave that runs from the shoulders down toward the base. Every accent stone in the ring is small enough that you read the effect before you read the individual diamonds.

Micro pave is not simply pave made smaller. Below about one and a half millimetres the beads of metal that hold each stone become too fine to raise with a standard graver, so the setter works under a microscope and cuts the seats and beads at a scale where a slip of a fraction of a millimetre ruins the row. The reward is that the metal almost disappears between the stones, and the shank reads as a continuous ribbon of light rather than as a line of separate diamonds. Done badly it looks grainy. Done well, as here, you cannot see where one stone ends and the next begins.

Band details

The shank is slim and rounded, carrying micro pave along the upper surface and around the shoulders, with the underside left plain so the ring can be resized. The inside is smooth and comfortable, and the pave sits flush enough that the band still feels even when you run a finger along it.

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. White gold is shown here and it is the strongest choice for micro pave, because a white setting removes any colour contrast between metal and stone and lets the pave read as one unbroken line. Yellow and rose gold outline each accent instead, which some people prefer because it makes the setting work visible.

Frequently asked questions

What is micro pave?
Pave set with stones small enough that the setting is done under magnification. The metal beads holding each stone are tiny, so almost no metal shows and the band reads as a continuous line of light.

Do micro pave stones fall out easily?
Not when set properly. Each stone sits in a cut seat held by raised beads. As with any pave ring we recommend a check every couple of years, which is quick and inexpensive.

What is a hidden halo?
A ring of small diamonds set around the basket under the centre stone. It is invisible from above so the ring keeps a clean outline, and it shows as a line of light from the side.

What makes a radiant cut different from an emerald cut?
Both are rectangular with cropped corners, but a radiant is brilliant faceted underneath so it sparkles like a round, while an emerald cut is a step cut with a clear open table.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness, refractive index and fire as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled environment rather than pulled from the ground.

Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included with every order at no additional cost.

How do I clean micro pave?
Warm water with a drop of dish soap and a very soft brush, then rinse and dry. Lotion and soap film collect under small stones and are the main reason a pave band loses its brightness.
