Radiant Cut Lab Grown Diamond Solitaire Ring with a Hidden Halo on a Knife Thin Band

A radiant cut lab grown diamond in four claws, with a single row of pave diamonds running around the outside of the basket beneath it, on a band cut as thin as gold can safely be made. Seen from above it is a plain solitaire. Seen from the side there is a line of light under the stone and almost no metal below it.

Pairing a hidden halo with a very thin shank is not an accident of styling. A halo under the stone adds a small amount of visual bulk right at the point where the setting meets the band, and on a heavy shank the two together can make the head look blocky. Take the shank down to a knife thin wire and the proportion inverts. The halo becomes the widest thing in the profile, the band reads as a line rather than a mass, and the stone appears to be held up by the light rather than by the metal.

Center stone details

  • Shape: Radiant cut, rectangular with cropped corners and brilliant faceting
  • Stone type: Lab grown diamond, IGI certified
  • Carat weight: 2, 3, 4 or 5 carat, selected at checkout
  • Color grade: E
  • Clarity grade: VVS2
  • Cut and polish: Excellent make, excellent luster
  • Setting: Four claws gripping the cropped corners, on a raised basket
  • Certification: IGI certificate of the center stone is included at no extra charge

Accent stone details

  • Hidden halo of round brilliant lab grown diamonds pave set around the basket
  • Follows the rectangular outline of the radiant rather than sitting in a circle
  • Visible only in profile, not from directly above
  • Matched to the center stone in color and clarity

Band details

The shank is knife thin, round in section and highly polished, with no stones anywhere along it. It meets the underside of the basket directly with no gallery or bridge, which is what keeps the whole profile so slight.

Metal options

Choose from 925 sterling silver, or 10K, 14K and 18K gold in yellow, rose or white. Yellow gold is shown here, and against a warm band the hidden halo reads as a bright white line the moment the ring turns. Rose gold softens that contrast. White gold and sterling silver merge halo, claws and shank into a single pale structure so only the centre stone registers. For a band this thin we recommend 14K or 18K gold, which hold their shape better than silver over years of wear.

Ring size

This ring is available in a full range of US sizes. Select your size at checkout. If you are unsure of the size, contact us and we will help you measure at home before the ring is made.

Custom orders

We make every ring to order, which means the design can be adjusted. Ask us for a heavier shank, a pave band, no hidden halo, a coloured gemstone halo, an east to west orientation, a different centre shape or a matching wedding band. Write to us through https://mapplegems.com/pages/contact and a member of our team will reply with drawings and a quote.

Frequently asked questions

What is a hidden halo?
A ring of small diamonds set around the basket underneath the centre stone. It is invisible from above, so the ring keeps a clean solitaire outline, and it shows as an unexpected line of light from the side.

Is a knife thin band strong enough?
In 10K, 14K and 18K gold, yes, for normal daily wear. Sterling silver is softer and a band this fine will bend more easily, so we suggest gold if you plan to wear the ring every day without taking it off.

Does a thin band make the diamond look bigger?
Noticeably. With so little metal beside it the eye has nothing to measure the stone against, and the same diamond reads a size larger than it would on a wide shank.

What is the difference between a radiant and an emerald cut?
Both are rectangular with cropped corners, but a radiant is brilliant faceted underneath so it sparkles like a round, while an emerald cut is a step cut with a clear open table.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. A lab grown diamond has the same carbon crystal structure, hardness, refractive index and fire as a mined diamond. The only difference is that it was grown in a controlled environment rather than pulled from the ground.

Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. An IGI certificate for the center stone is included with every order at no additional cost.

Can this ring be resized?
Yes. The band carries no stones so a jeweler can cut and adjust it, though on a very fine shank we recommend having the size confirmed before we make it to avoid repeated adjustment.

Why buy a lab grown diamond

A lab grown diamond gives you the same optical and physical properties as a mined stone at a far better price for the size and quality. Because the growth conditions are controlled, high color and high clarity stones like the E VVS2 used here are available in large carat weights that would be rare and costly in mined goods. It is also a traceable choice, with a known origin and no mining footprint.
