Radiant Cut Lab Grown Diamond Vintage Ring with Hidden Halo on a Filigree Pave Band

A radiant cut lab grown diamond held at its cropped corners by four claws, above a hidden halo, on a band that carries pave along its face and pierced filigree scrollwork down both sides. This is the most heavily worked shank in the collection. From directly above you see a clean line of pave running to the stone. Turn the ring even slightly and the sides open up into cut and pierced scrollwork edged in milgrain, with more openwork visible through the gallery beneath the head. Almost none of that is visible when the ring is worn face on, which is exactly how Edwardian and Art Deco makers approached a shank. The decoration was put where the wearer would find it rather than where it would announce itself. E colour, VVS2 clarity, free IGI certificate. Band details

Round accent diamonds are pave set along the face of the shank. Both sides of the band are cut and pierced into filigree scrollwork and finished with milgrain beading along the edges. The gallery under the head is pierced to match, so light passes through the setting from beneath.

Available in 925 sterling silver, 10K yellow gold, 10K rose gold, 10K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K yellow gold, 18K rose gold and 18K white gold. White gold and sterling silver, as photographed, give the crisp platinum look of original Art Deco work and let the pave merge into the centre stone. Yellow and rose gold throw more shadow into the pierced scrollwork, which makes the filigree read as a stronger pattern.

Ring size

Every ring is made to your finger size, so choose your size at checkout. Because the filigree, milgrain and pave run around the shank, please order your correct size where possible. Resizing is still possible but the pattern has to be recut across the join. Ask us for a free size guide if you are unsure.

Frequently asked questions

What is filigree?
Metal cut and pierced into an open decorative pattern rather than left solid. On a ring it lightens the shank visually, lets light through, and gives the sides of the band something to look at. It is cut by hand, which is why it takes far longer to make than a plain shank.

What is milgrain?
A row of very small metal beads worked along an edge with a knurling tool. It is a hallmark of Edwardian and Art Deco jewellery and it softens the outline of a ring, catching light along the rim in a way a plain polished edge does not.

What is a radiant cut?
A rectangular stone with cropped corners like an emerald cut, but faceted as a brilliant underneath. It gives the clean geometric outline of a step cut with the sparkle of a round.

Is filigree fragile?
Less than it looks. The pierced sections are cut into a shank that is left thick enough to carry them, and the pattern is part of the structure rather than applied to it. Normal wear is not a problem, though we would not recommend it for heavy manual work.

What is a hidden halo?
A ring of small pave set diamonds around the collar beneath the centre stone, facing outward. It is invisible from the front and appears only in profile or as the hand moves.

Is a lab grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. Same carbon structure, hardness and brilliance as a mined diamond. Only the origin differs.

Do I get a certificate?
Yes. A free IGI certificate for the centre stone comes with every order, listing colour, clarity, cut grade and carat weight.
